Energy infrastructure transitions and environmental governance

At a time of great urgency for transitions to sustainability in light climate mitigation targets, energy infrastructure is state flux. Expansions renewable and the persistent grasp fossil fuels over historically centralised sector surface new challenges socio-spatial environmental justice. Where does appear, how this decided, who benefits burdened? What land uses are displaced with what socio-ecological implications? This collection pulls together insights from governance, ethnographic studies situated social identities, emerging conceptualisations address these concerns. It features contributions focused at multiple scales – urban, regional, national trans-local informed by variety cognate conceptual lenses: political ecology, human geography, anthropology, urban studies, socio-technical epistemic politics. Examining cases three continents, both Global South North, theme issue presents an array perspectives established scholars. seeks combine empirically rich theoretically rigorous enquiry conjuncture transitions, changing use morphing identity. The aim thus further interdisciplinary knowledge on implications cross-sectoral transitions.
